Hardware Review - Royal Hunter X
This is my first hardware review
At the Vaper expo in Birmingham I had the greatest pleasure to meet Joleen Bassett who is the Northern Ireland Sales person for Council of Vapor (C.o.V.) who gave me a Royal Hunter X for review. So many thanks to Joleen.
The C.o.V. Royal Hunter X comes in a plastic box that protects the RDA well, also included in the box is a bag of spares, including O rings and clamp tops.
The RDA is very well constructed and beautifully engraved with the Royal Hunter logo and 'X's'.
It comes in 4 parts, the deck, the collar, the top cap (which are metal) and a lovely resin chuff cap.
The 510 pin protrudes quite a bit and is surrounded by an insulator so can be safely used on a hybrid mech.
The deck is a spacious one with posts that have both holes and clamps so even the large complicated builds will fit in here. There is quite a gap between positive and negative holes meaning simple micro coils will need to be well spaced out if using the holes instead of the clamps. When using the holes the screws can not be screwed down completely meaning the clamps rattle a little.(this may annoy some people)
Around the deck are a couple of O rings that seal the collar onto the deck to stop your juice leaking out, but as the RDA is very well constructed means the collar is not hard to remove.
The airflow is from 2 slotted holes on the collar that can be restricted right down to a tight pull and when fully open give a very airy cloudy vape. This is controlled by the top cap and can be used for dual coils or a single coil. (three air slots on top cap)
The top cap has knurling around tide to make it easy to remove, not that you need to remove it to drip as it has a large chuff opening, through which you can drip.
My coils of choice for this RDA are a couple of Mikra coils 28/34g n80 which gives 017 OHMs, wicked with fusion cotton. Use a little ,ore cotton than you normally would as the juice well is larger than you may think.
The flavor from this little beast is awesome and chucks plenty of clouds as you would expect from a quality product.
Pros - Great quality manufacturing and design, great airflow, multiple build options on deck.
Cons - slight rattle on clamps when using holes.
